Sharing practical experience in sports entrepreneurship and venue planning: Rethinking the meaning of "sports industry" and "entrepreneurship" for myself.

On November 20, 2025, we invited two guest speakers: Simon from Four Seasons Fitness and Zhou Qingan, President of the New Taipei City Fitness Association. Their presentations were on the theme of "運動創業/場館規劃實務分享,開始重新思考「運動產業」和「創業」對自己的意義". The speaker frankly discussed the various real-world pressures involved, including the seemingly endless rent, personnel issues, regulations, pandemic risks, and coach turnover: passion was just the starting point; what sustained them was a "business mindset" and the "resilience to face pressure without running away.." The first speaker shared his experience transitioning from the tech industry to the fitness industry. During the pandemic, he faced numerous challenges, including Level 3 lockdowns, forced gym closures, rent issues, forced leave for his coaching team, and a sharp decline in cash flow. He emphasized that entrepreneurship is not just about "doing what you love," but about facing reality and using free artificial intelligence as a daily tool to expand one's influence. The second speaker shared his journey from finding satisfaction through exercise to managing multiple gyms and acquiring brands. He highlighted the hardships of entrepreneurship, emphasizing that every step was challenging, and that previously underestimated experiences became his driving force. This speaker shared the impact of macro factors (such as "work culture, demographics, and regulations") on the sports industry, not just personal passion. Furthermore, the speaker stressed the importance of continuous learning and networking, regardless of future career choices, because "the people who can truly help you in the future are often your current classmates." Third, the speaker suggested that if an opportunity arises that requires "taking a risk," one should start accumulating experience now so that when the time is right, one can make an independent choice instead of being swayed by the environment.
