In this lecture, we had the pleasure of inviting Professor Hu Yueh-Pao to share his valuable experience in promoting the integration of AI into education in Singapore. Professor Hu emphasized that the use of AI should go beyond simple information retrieval or tool manipulation; instead, it should help teachers and learners gain deeper insights and transform these into effective teaching and learning strategies. During the session, Professor Hu presented several real-world cases of AI-assisted learning practices in Singapore, particularly focusing on the time-consuming and challenging task of essay grading. He demonstrated how AI can support preliminary marking, provide linguistic suggestions, and offer formative feedback—significantly reducing teachers’ workload while giving students more timely and objective learning support. As the era of human–AI collaborative teaching has truly arrived, this lecture provided us with a clearer understanding of how to work alongside AI rather than passively awaiting replacement. The session was rich in content and offered profound insights, leaving us greatly inspired and enriched.
