【Internship Presentation】2025 Department of Earthscience and Life Summer Internship Outcome Presentation
On the afternoon of December 9th, the Department of Earth and Life Science (ELS) hosted the "2025 Summer Internship Presentation" on the first floor of the Science Building. This event aimed to showcase the fruitful outcomes of students' practical learning at various professional institutions over the summer. Through poster presentations, the event fostered academic exchange and the sharing of experiences among peers. Diverse Internship Fields: Connecting Theory with Practice A total of 23 students participated in the presentation. The internship sites spanned numerous public and private institutions closely related to earth science, ecological conservation, and environmental education. Host organizations included the Central Weather Administration (CWA), National Science and Technology Center for Disaster Reduction (NCDR), Taipei Zoo, National Museum of Marine Science and Technology (NMMST), National Taiwan Science Education Center (NTSEC), Wild Bird Society of Taipei, and the Sewerage Systems Office's Sewage Treatment Plants. As evidenced by this list, students not only engaged in educational promotion at museums but also immersed themselves in research units and administrative agencies. This demonstrates the potential for diverse development and the cross-disciplinary professional adaptability of ELS students. Poster Presentations and Interactive Exchange The event kicked off at 13:10 with opening remarks from the Department Chair. During the subsequent poster session, students utilized the open spaces of the Science Building's first floor and stairwells to display their meticulously prepared posters. The atmosphere was vibrant; in addition to explaining their internship content and insights, students used tablets for multimedia demonstrations, vividly presenting moments from fieldwork, exhibition guiding, and laboratory operations. As seen in the event photos, there was frequent interaction between faculty and students, with attendees listening intently, reflecting a strong atmosphere of academic heritage and mentorship. Competition and Recognition of Professional Performance To encourage active student participation in internships and to enhance presentation skills, the event included a grading and awards session. After approximately 90 minutes of presentations and 10 minutes of tabulation, "Professional Internship Awards" were presented. The department generously provided FamilyMart gift certificates as prizes. A total of 13 students were recognized across five tiers, with the first-place winner receiving a 1,000 TWD gift certificate. These awards served to affirm the students' hard work and outstanding performance during their internships. This presentation was not merely a conclusion of the summer internships; it served as a vital bridge connecting campus learning with workplace practice, successfully embodying the ELS educational spirit of "learning by doing."
