Higher Education Deepening Lecture Series –Cui Rongrong, “Entering a Life of Dance”

Dance is not only something that happens on stage; it exists within our everyday lives. As we move through time and space and interact with others, we are, in a sense, always “dancing,” exploring our inner strength. Dancers connect emotion, thought, and the inner self through bodily movement, while non-dancers can also sense the rhythms of life through the body and come to understand their relationship with the world. Simply put, dance is life, and life is dance. In this sharing, Cui Rongrong speaks as a dancer, weaving together her life story and dance journey. Through improvised movement and the telling of lived experiences, she guides participants to feel how the body connects with memory, emotion, and thought. Everyone can use the body to express their own story—seeing themselves anew, sensing their inner power, and understanding how the body “speaks.” Through movement, the body’s strength is awakened, thoughts and feelings are brought into the present moment, and life stories can naturally unfold. Within this experience, each person can find their own rhythm, integrating emotion, memory, and the body into dance, and sensing the flow and vitality of life. This is a journey that begins with the body—reconnecting with the self and with life, and rediscovering the relationship between dance and living.
