王映茹-Graduation Art Exhibition

In the season of growth, I always worried that I was just a butterfly yet to take shape. So I flitted among the flowers, using their reflections to see my own image. Some of those flowers were gentle, some were prickly; they illuminated me, and also wounded me. I gradually understood that a butterfly's life is not just about flying, but also about getting to know itself in different seasons of bloom. Psyche, whose name means "soul" in Greek, is depicted as a human with butterfly wings, symbolizing that every soul must traverse darkness, loss, and trials to gradually mature at the intersection of love and pain. I, too, have followed such a path, looking out at the world, absorbing, breaking down, and rebuilding on my journey as a migrant worker in Beijing. I received light and borrowed wind from friends, professors, supervisors, therapists, and faith, serving as a case study in learning from the world, while also striving to become someone who can accompany others through their journeys and help them spread their wings.
