University of Taipei Department of Health and Welfare: Field Visit to the Assistive Technology Resources and Promotion Center, SFAA, MOHW

On March 20, 2025, Dr. Tzu-Ying Chiu led a group of students to the Multi-functional Assistive Technology Resources and Promotion Center under the Social and Family Affairs Administration (SFAA), Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW). As assistive technology is essential for enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities and seniors, this activity aimed to provide students with deep insights into national assistive technology policies, R&D trends, and resource integration. During the visit, center guides introduced various technological applications, ranging from home modifications to high-tech communication aids, demonstrating how proper assessment and matching can rebuild a user's independence. Students had the opportunity to experience different types of assistive tools firsthand and discussed the subsidy systems and promotion challenges with professionals. This learning experience not only strengthened students' understanding of "comprehensive care" but also sparked their professional interest in the application of welfare technology for the elderly.
