The University of Taipei recently held an online meeting with the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST), during which both parties engaged in discussions on student exchange programs, the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), and future directions for collaboration. During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on the student exchange program and acknowledged that there is still room for growth in the number of participating students. Moving forward, both institutions will continue to promote student participation and enhance exchange opportunities through a regular nomination mechanism. As the agreement is currently due for renewal, both parties also discussed possible adjustments to certain terms and signing arrangements to better align with their respective administrative practices. In terms of academic support, the University of Taipei proposed offering short-term Mandarin courses as preparatory programs prior to the start of the semester, aiming to help incoming exchange students improve their basic communication skills and adapt to life in Taiwan. UNIST, on the other hand, shared its fully English-taught academic environment and noted that its students are primarily focused on science and engineering disciplines, with a strong interest in subject-specific coursework. In addition, both institutions exchanged insights on their respective academic strengths and potential areas for future collaboration. They also discussed organizing online information sessions to enhance student recruitment and outreach. Further communication will continue via email to refine collaboration details, with the possibility of expanding cooperation into joint research and co-publications in the future. The University of Taipei remains committed to strengthening its partnerships with international institutions, fostering diverse and meaningful global engagement opportunities, and enhancing students’ international competitiveness.
