On March 25, 2025, the University of Taipei held an online meeting with Hiroshima University, Japan. During the meeting, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on the development direction and implementation details of the IDEC Institute 3+1 Program, an international academic program designed to bridge undergraduate and graduate studies. The meeting aimed to further expand overseas learning opportunities for students and strengthen international academic collaboration. The meeting was attended by Mr. Wu-Long Jhuang, Director of the International and Cross-Strait Academic Exchange Division, and Mr. Teddy Wang from the Office of International Affairs at the University of Taipei. Representatives from the Global Exchange Group of Hiroshima University also participated. Both sides exchanged views on application procedures, the signing of an additional appendix to the existing agreement, student eligibility, and related administrative processes. Hiroshima University introduced that the IDEC 3+1 Program offers students a nine-month study opportunity in Japan, during which they can take academic courses, receive personalized research supervision from faculty members, and transfer earned credits back to their home institutions. The program also provides a pathway for students who wish to pursue further studies at the graduate level. The University of Taipei expressed strong interest in the program and indicated that it will carefully evaluate the cooperation mechanism in accordance with internal procedures. In addition, both sides discussed the timeline for signing the appendix and reached a preliminary consensus to prioritize establishing a comprehensive cooperation framework. Further steps regarding student participation will be considered based on internal review outcomes. The meeting concluded successfully with constructive dialogue and positive engagement. Both institutions expressed their intention to maintain close communication and look forward to strengthening collaboration in international education and academic exchange through concrete initiatives, thereby creating more diverse and high-quality global learning opportunities for students.
