114th year - USR - International Alzheimer's Month

September is World Dementia Month, and this year we participated in a series of events organized by the Taipei City Government Health Bureau and Taipei City Hospital. The events centered around an immersive interactive exhibit, allowing us to gain a deeper understanding of the daily challenges faced by dementia patients and their families. In the exhibit, participants personally experienced scenarios such as memory loss and cognitive dissonance, deeply feeling the inconvenience and helplessness patients face in their lives. This also helped them better appreciate the patience and support needed by caregivers. These experiences reminded us that dementia is not just an individual's predicament, but a challenge that the entire family and society must share. As part of Taipei City University's "Social Prescription" program, we also assisted with event promotion and guided experiences on-site. Through practical participation, we not only enhanced our understanding of dementia but also realized how professional knowledge can be integrated with community needs. This experience was not only an extension of classroom learning but also helped us understand the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and social support. This Dementia Month event made us realize that only through the collective efforts of society can we create a more friendly and empathetic environment for people with dementia.
