University Expo for 114 Academic Year in NTNU

University of Taipei at University Expo for 114 Academic Year in NTNU On March 27, University of Taipei participated in the “University Expo for 114 Academic Year” organized by the Academy of Preparatory Programs for Overseas Compatriot Students of National Taiwan Normal University. The university was represented by Ms. Ya-Jen Chi, Director of International Foundation Program, Office of International Affairs; Ms. Li-Yun Chiang, Section Chief of the Admissions Division, Office of Academic Affairs; and Mr. De-Yao Liu, project staff member of the Office of International Affairs. The university actively promoted its programs to expand recruitment channels for overseas Chinese students and students from Hong Kong and Macau. The fair brought together students from Malaysia, Myanmar, Vietnam, and other regions, who complete a one-year preparatory program in Taiwan before applying to universities through the University Entrance Committee For Overseas Compatriot Students or individual university admissions, making them an important source of students for the University of Taipei. During the event, it was observed that the number of students from Myanmar has grown significantly in recent years, gradually becoming the primary group. Based on on-site survey data, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) was the most popular field of interest, followed by Business Management and Medical and Health-related disciplines. This trend reflects students’ strong emphasis on practical application and future career development. Most students also expressed an intention to study abroad and showed a positive attitude toward studying in Taiwan. Key factors influencing their decisions included scholarships, English-taught programs, curriculum relevance, and teaching quality. To enhance engagement and communication, the university invited Myanmar students currently studying in the Department of Public Affairs and the Department of Computer Science to serve as student ambassadors. They introduced the university and shared their learning experiences in their native language, effectively connecting with prospective students and creating a lively atmosphere. Through peer sharing, students gained a deeper understanding of the university and developed greater trust. In addition, University of Taipei was selected as one of six universities, out of nearly 150 participating institutions, to deliver an on-stage presentation. Director Chi introduced the university’s location, educational strengths, affordable tuition, and diverse scholarship opportunities, as well as government-supported policies that assist international students in staying and working in Taiwan after graduation. Student representatives also gave engaging presentations about their academic programs, helping the audience better understand the university’s learning environment and future opportunities, which received enthusiastic responses. University of Taipei announced that applications for the second round of independent admissions for overseas Chinese students and students from Hong Kong and Macau for the 2026 academic year will be open from May 4 to May 22. A total of 27 departments and 5 independent graduate institutes are available for application. Students are warmly encouraged to apply through this admission channel or via the Overseas Joint Admissions Committee, and to join University of Taipei’s diverse and globally oriented learning environment.
