Ministry of Education's 2025-2027 USR (University Social Responsibility) Plan - Integrating University Social Responsibility into Campus Development Planning; Taipei University and Fuli Township Farmers' Association Sign MOU -
To transcend campus boundaries and fulfill its university social responsibility (USR), the University of Taipei (UTC) led a team of faculty and students to Fuli, Hualien on the 23rd, under the leadership of President Chiu Ying-hao. There, they signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Chang Su-hua, the general manager of the Fuli Township Farmers' Association, officially launching the "Good Grain, Art, and Farmland" collaborative project. This project, centered on "spreading love through rice and making friends through art," innovatively combines "charitable contract farming" with "art performances" to revitalize the local community. UTC will adopt farmland in Fuli for contract farming, jointly producing co-branded "Taipei Rice" with the Farmers' Association. All the harvested rice will be converted into charitable resources, donated to groups in need, or used to reward donors, establishing a virtuous cycle from "land to table, table to charity." President Chiu Ying-hao emphasized that through students' hands-on participation in agricultural production, brand promotion, and charitable giving back, their understanding of ESG sustainability, food and agriculture education, and gratitude for the source of their water can be deepened. Director-General Chang Su-hua pointed out that Fuli boasts an excellent natural environment and distinctive rice cultivation characteristics. In recent years, it has promoted landscape aesthetics and local branding. This collaboration adopts a mutually beneficial model, allowing the energies of agriculture, education, and culture to multiply. Both parties also discussed establishing an office for the "Hualien-Taitung Borderless Companionship Project" as a long-term base, encouraging Taipei City faculty and students to reside there periodically, connecting resources from industry, government, academia, and research, and providing arts, culture, and sports support in conjunction with local festivals. The signing ceremony coincided with the opening of the "Fuli Township Farmers' Association Straw Art Festival," where Taipei City faculty and students presented martial arts and music performances, completing the exchange ceremony amidst golden waves of rice, demonstrating the exemplary value of combining USR (Universal Social Responsibility) with local revitalization.
