University of Taipei × Eikei University of Hiroshima, Japan
This online meeting specially invited Ms. Cheng Ya-fang, an alumna of the Department of Music at the University of Taipei, to participate in the exchange. Ms. Cheng is currently serving as a faculty member at Eikei University of Hiroshima, and both institutions exchanged views and discussed future academic exchanges and potential areas of collaboration. During the meeting, in addition to discussing student exchange programs, personnel visits, overseas volunteer opportunities, and internship collaborations, both sides also conducted in-depth discussions regarding the University of Taipei’s short-term Mandarin language study programs. Topics included program planning, tuition and fee standards, cultural experience activities, and student accommodation arrangements. The Japanese side indicated that, as their students are required to complete at least 70 hours of overseas learning activities during their studies, Taiwan—alongside South Korea and the Philippines—is currently one of the university’s key destinations for international exchange and development. Therefore, they expressed strong interest in participating in short-term Mandarin programs in Taiwan and hope to establish a stable and long-term cooperation model in the future. Following the meeting, the University of Taipei has also actively begun planning subsequent exchange initiatives and expects to welcome Japanese students to participate in short-term Mandarin study programs as early as September this year or early next year. Through language learning and cultural experience activities, both institutions aim to further deepen mutual exchange and interaction.
