Movement, Play, and Awareness: The Application of Creative Dance in Somatics
This special lecture invited Professor Liu Shu-Ying from National Tsing Hua University to share her extensive experience and contributions in the fields of dance and education. The theme of the lecture was “Movement, Play, and Awareness: The Application of Creative Dance in Somatics.”The course centered on creative dance and guided students in exploring body awareness and mind-body integration through music, rhythm, games, and movement activities. The content incorporated Mollie Davies’ theoretical framework of movement, including body, dynamics, space, and relationships. Through diverse interactive activities, the course promoted creativity, imagination, and interpersonal connection. Through direct participation and experiential learning, students learned how creative dance can be applied to facilitating different populations and helping professions, while further understanding the body as an important medium for emotional expression, self-exploration, and communication.
