Faculty members and students from College of Charleston visited the Gold Museum during their exchange and study program, where they learned about Taiwan’s mining history and the cultural characteristics of the Jinguashi area through guided tours and exhibitions. In addition to exploring the museum, the students also participated in a gold panning activity, experiencing the techniques and fun of gold mining once carried out by early miners. Afterward, the delegation visited Shifen Old Street to experience Taiwan’s traditional sky lantern culture. The students wrote down their wishes and blessings before releasing sky lanterns together, gaining a deeper appreciation of Taiwan’s folk traditions and local culture. Through this series of cultural activities, the students further enhanced their understanding of Taiwan’s local industry development, historical heritage, and traditional customs.
