Fulbright Taiwan Scholarship Information Session Held at University of Taipei to Expand Students' International Horizons
To help students better understand study-abroad opportunities in the United States and available international exchange resources, the University of Taipei, in collaboration with the Foundation for Scholarly Exchange (Fulbright Taiwan), held the “Fulbright U.S. Scholarship and Exchange Program Information Session” on May 27, 2026, in Classroom G314 at Gongcheng Building. The session featured Ms. Tracie Chen, Director of Public Affairs at Fulbright Taiwan, as the guest speaker and attracted enthusiastic participation from students across the university. The information session introduced the Fulbright U.S. Scholarship and Exchange Program, covering a wide range of opportunities including master’s and doctoral scholarships, doctoral dissertation research grants, the Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program, and various scholar and faculty exchange programs. The session aimed to help students gain a clearer understanding of study and exchange possibilities in the United States. During the session, Ms. Chen noted that the Fulbright Program, established in 1946, is one of the most prestigious and long-standing international academic exchange programs in the world. It has built an extensive global alumni network and enjoys a strong reputation in both U.S. academia and international exchange communities. She also shared that, in addition to financial support during the period of study in the United States, the program provides application consultation and advisory services to guide applicants through the preparation and application process. The session also addressed students’ most frequently asked questions, including English language requirements, eligibility criteria, academic arrangements in the United States, and overall exchange experiences. The speaker particularly emphasized that, in addition to academic excellence, the Fulbright Program places strong importance on applicants’ global perspective, intercultural communication skills, and enthusiasm for sharing Taiwanese culture and experiences, encouraging students to actively apply and engage in international exchange. Furthermore, the event featured several concrete case studies and personal experiences, including how FLTA participants expanded their international perspectives through cultural exchange in the United States, as well as how Fulbright alumni successfully transitioned into graduate studies in the U.S. These examples helped students gain a deeper understanding of both the program content and the application process. Overall, the information session not only enhanced students’ understanding of Fulbright scholarships and international exchange opportunities, but also encouraged them to broaden their global outlook and strengthen their intercultural communication skills, laying a solid foundation for future overseas study and international development.
