Long-term care 3.0 planning and prospects

Taiwan has officially transitioned into a super-aged society, with the elderly population accounting for over 20% of the total demographic. To proactively address the surging pressure on family caregiving and healthcare infrastructure, the government launched the Long-Term Care Plan 3.0 (LTC 3.0) in 2026. Built upon the foundation of community-based and person-centered services from LTC 2.0, this upgraded policy shifts its focus toward deeper medical-care integration, smart technology applications, and the cultivation of inclusive communities. Guided by the vision of "Healthy Aging, Aging in Place, and Dying with Dignity," LTC 3.0 aims to establish a seamless, comprehensive support network that alleviates family burdens and enhances the life quality of care recipients.
