Ministry of Education USR Project (2025–2027): Integrating University Social Responsibility into Institutional Development Planning — Social Prescribing Exchange Visit by the Tokyo University of the Arts and Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum "ART Co-Creation Project" Team

Earlier this year, our project team hosted a delegation at the Ju-Guang Center for Healthy Aging and Empowerment (Taipei City Hospital). The visitors—Ms. Chiu Chun-ni, Ms. Sugawara Haruka, Ms. Kanehama Yoko, and Mr. Hayashi Hiroki—represented the "ART Co-creation Project" involving Tokyo University of the Arts and the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum. The visit served as a platform for exchanging ideas on social prescribing and art-based co-creation. The delegation was welcomed by Dr. Liu Chien-liang, Director of the Dementia Center at Taipei City Hospital (and Director of the Department of Neurology at the Heping Fuyou Branch), and Professor Wang Shih-chih from the Department of Health and Welfare at the University of Taipei. They introduced the social prescribing initiatives jointly promoted by the two sides, fostering a diverse and in-depth exchange of views through sharing and discussion. During the exchange, the team introduced the Taiwan International Society for Social Health and Wellbeing (TISSHW) and the achievements of the University Social Responsibility (USR) project on social prescribing at the University of Taipei to the Japanese delegation. With the University of Taipei (USR team) and the Taipei City Hospital (Dementia Center and Juguang Healthy Aging and Empowerment Center) as core partners, TISSHW is dedicated to research and practice in social prescribing, professional training, policy consultation, and international collaboration (including with NASP and ISPC). This exchange fostered the sharing of experiences and the establishment of collaborative ties between Taiwan and Japan in the fields of social prescribing, arts interventions, and health promotion. Looking ahead, the team plans to attend the International Social Prescribing Conference (ISPC2026) in Kyoto this May and pay a return visit to the Tokyo University of the Arts to discuss the shared vision of establishing an East Asian "regional learning hub" for social prescribing.
