Workplace Experience – Expert Lecture: Sports Event Management and Workplace Experience Sharing
Manager Tsai-Jou Ku from Taiwan Home Care delivered a lecture titled “Sports Event Management and Workplace Experience.” The lecture focused on the skills and techniques involved in organizing sports events. By incorporating the planning of leisure activities such as the Senior Citizens Carnival and the “Good Life Festival,” the lecture demonstrated the professionalism and social responsibility of both the sports and healthcare industries. As a leading company in the senior care industry, Taiwan Home Care provided valuable practical insights. The speaker shared her professional experience and explained how the principles of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can be incorporated into senior care. She also discussed how to design sports activities and festivals for older adults that are both enjoyable and sustainable. At the beginning of the lecture, the speaker introduced the basic principles of event planning, including schedule and event flow management, risk assessment, and cost estimation. She placed particular emphasis on marketing strategies. For example, when designing activities for older adults, it is important to consider the needs and characteristics of different age groups. Activities should not be limited to physical exercise but should also provide opportunities for education and relaxation. This demonstrated that creating high-quality activities and meaningful festival experiences requires creativity as well as careful and detailed planning in order to provide participants with memorable experiences. The second half of the lecture focused on workplace experience. The speaker shared her previous job-search experiences and described her responsibilities in the workplace. For first-year university students who are just beginning to explore their college courses and future careers, opportunities such as practical activities, course-based experiences, and field visits can help them gain a better understanding of potential workplace responsibilities. For example, communication and task requirements may differ when interacting with coworkers compared with consumers or participants. By incorporating SDG-related education into these experiences, the lecture demonstrated how workplace learning can be effectively connected with sports event management.
