Assessment and Application of Older Adults' Embodied Experience
This course focuses on the assessment and application of embodied experience in older adults, integrating principles from Somatics, Dance/Movement Therapy (DMT), and healthy aging. Participants will explore age-related physical, psychological, and social changes and their influence on movement expression and functional performance. Through experiential learning, movement observation, case studies, and group practice, participants will develop skills in assessing body awareness, movement qualities, nonverbal communication, and interpersonal interaction in older adults. The course also emphasizes designing appropriate movement-based interventions and activity programs tailored to diverse physical and cognitive abilities, with the goal of promoting physical function, emotional well-being, social engagement, and quality of life, while strengthening participants' competencies in facilitating programs for older adults.
