On June 29, 2026, the University of Taipei welcomed Dr. Yu-Ju Kuo, Professor of Mathematical and Computer Sciences department at IUP, for an academic visit aimed at strengthening the long-standing partnership between the two institutions. During the visit, both sides engaged in productive discussions on dual degree collaboration and future developments in mathematics education. The University of Taipei and Indiana University of Pennsylvania have maintained a close and fruitful partnership as dual degree partner institutions for many years. Earlier this April, Professor David Chen, Vice President for Administrative Affairs at the University of Taipei, represented the University at IUP's 150th Anniversary Celebration, further reinforcing the strong relationship between the two universities and laying a solid foundation for future collaboration. The meeting was attended by Professor Yi-Wen Su, Chair of the Department of Mathematics, together with Professor Mei-Chuan Wang, Associate Professor Miao-Ying Chen, and Assistant Professor Chung-Hsing Chen. Dr. Wu-Long Jhuang, Director of Office of International Affairs, also participated in the discussions. Faculty members and administrators from both institutions exchanged ideas on future collaborative initiatives, academic cooperation, and opportunities to expand student mobility. The University of Taipei and IUP have already established a 1+1 Master's Dual Degree Program in the field of Sport and Health Sciences. Building upon this successful collaboration, the two institutions explored the possibility of extending dual degree opportunities to the Department of Mathematics. Discussions focused on two potential pathways: a 4+1 Bachelor's-to-Master's Dual Degree Program and a 1+1 Master's Dual Degree Program. Both universities exchanged views on curriculum design, credit transfer, degree requirements, and internship opportunities to ensure a well-integrated academic experience for participating students. Recognizing the differences between the higher education systems of Taiwan and the United States, both institutions also discussed various academic arrangements, including course sequencing, credit recognition, research components, and internship opportunities in the United States. These discussions represent an important step toward developing a dual degree model that accommodates the academic requirements of both universities while enhancing students' international learning experiences. The University of Taipei remains committed to advancing internationalization through strategic partnerships with leading universities around the world. By promoting dual degree programs, student exchanges, academic collaboration, and faculty mobility, the University continues to expand global learning opportunities and cultivate graduates with international perspectives and professional competence. Looking ahead, the University of Taipei and Indiana University of Pennsylvania will continue to strengthen their partnership and explore new opportunities for academic collaboration, student development, and educational excellence.
