The lecture, “Reason and Respect: A Special Lecture on Gender-Related Incidents and Sexual Harassment Prevention,” focused on promoting gender equality and raising awareness of sexual harassment prevention. Through personal experiences, real-life cases, and interactive activities, the speaker introduced different forms of sexual harassment and explained how to recognize inappropriate verbal and physical behaviors. The lecture emphasized the importance of personal boundaries, bodily autonomy, mutual respect, and empathy in interpersonal relationships. An interactive demonstration of interpersonal distances helped students better understand personal space and appropriate social interactions. Additionally, the speaker introduced three relevant Taiwanese laws: the Sexual Harassment Prevention Act, the Gender Equity Education Act, and the Act of Gender Equality in Employment. Practical guidance was provided on responding to sexual harassment incidents in educational settings, workplaces, and internships, including available reporting procedures and support resources. The lecture also addressed common psychological reactions experienced by victims, encouraging students to avoid victim-blaming and respond with understanding and support. Overall, the activity enhanced students’ awareness of gender-related issues, legal knowledge, and self-protection skills while encouraging them to respect individual boundaries and contribute to creating safer, more inclusive, and gender-equitable learning and working environments.
