Li Gen-zai is an associate professor in the Department of Design at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (Taiwan Tech), where he also leads the Li Gen-zai Design Studio. His expertise spans a diverse range of fields, including design, education, curation, interdisciplinary design, and contemporary art. Focused on experimental and practical creative methodologies, he places equal emphasis on teaching and professional practice, drawing inspiration from a spirit of cross-disciplinary exploration. Li Gen-zai is dedicated to expanding the boundaries of the design discipline. He seeks to redefine design—moving beyond the notion that it is merely a superficial association with a subject—by advocating for the creation of works that integrate internal essence with external form. He is adept at utilizing creative interventions to address social issues, demonstrating a keen insight into such matters.
