Taipei Municipal Huajiang Elementary School: Heat Transfer Printing Experience and Educational Applications at the Smart Innovation Dream Factory

Topic: Heat Transfer Printing Experience and Educational Applications at the Huajiang Smart Innovation Dream Factory This event was integrated with Huajiang Elementary School’s school-based specialty curriculum. Through an introduction to heat transfer printing technology and hands-on activities, students were introduced to the ecology of geese and ducks and learned about the educational applications of heat transfer printing. This provided an in-depth understanding of how the school integrates local ecological resources and innovative technology into its school-designed curriculum, showcasing the distinctive features of interdisciplinary learning. In addition to hands-on heat transfer printing activities, the event guided students through group discussions and collaboration to brainstorm and plan their own school-based curriculum—including course themes, number of class periods, activity procedures, and learning content. This transformed students from curriculum participants into curriculum designers, deepening their understanding of the planning philosophy and implementation methods behind school-based curricula. Through the instructors’ sharing of the development process, design philosophies, practical challenges, and solution strategies for the school’s signature courses, students gained a deep appreciation for the significant time and effort required to take a course from conception and planning to actual implementation, as well as the need for continuous review and revision to gradually refine the curriculum content. At the same time, they gained a better understanding of the coordinating, integrating, and supportive roles played by school administration in the curriculum implementation process. Students generally praised the event’s blend of theoretical and practical learning, noting that hands-on activities and teamwork not only enhanced their interest and engagement but also deepened their understanding of school-based curriculum design and teaching practices, providing substantial benefits for their future careers in education and curriculum planning.
