Designing Group Programs for Older Adults

This course focuses on the design of group programs for older adults, integrating theories and practices from healthy aging, Somatics, and Laban Movement Analysis (LMA). Participants will develop the competencies to design person-centered group programs that address the diverse needs of older adults. The course explores how physical functioning, cognitive status, emotional needs, and social participation influence program planning, while incorporating movement, props and materials, space, music, and group interaction as essential elements of program design. Through case discussions, program development, simulated facilitation, and reflective feedback, participants will strengthen their abilities to plan, implement, evaluate, and refine group programs for older adults, enhancing their professional competence in clinical practice and interdisciplinary collaboration.
