Using Body Language Expression and Interaction in Workshops for Older Adults 3
This activity centered on “Expression, Creativity, and Meaning Construction through Movement.” Participants explored the relationship between body, effort, shape, and emotion through creative dance. The session began with Brain Dance as a warm-up, helping participants relax, focus, and connect with their bodies. The instructor specially purchased four-way stretch fabric from Yongle Market and created unique elastic dance garments for the participants. Wearing these garments, participants explored how fabric, movement, and space could shape their bodily expression. Through Laban Movement Analysis concepts such as Effort and Shape, they experienced movement qualities including lightness, strength, flow, pause, contraction, and extension, turning dance into a warm process of self-expression and group connection.
