Global trend of contemporary dance by Renzong Lin
This time, we are honored to invite Lin Renzhong, an artist living in France, as a lecturer. Lin Renzhong is an artist and curator who spans the fields of performing and visual arts. He uses the global trend of contemporary dance as the theme and uses his own past to The curated productions and individual works serve as relevant descriptions. The sharing includes the 2017 "Art History on Escalators", which reproduces a series of paintings, photos and sculptures of art history, proposes different ways of reading artworks and their history, and also symbolizes the endless circulation of communication in different eras; 2022 "Art History on Escalators" "My Body is a Queer History Museum" uses costumes, dances, storytelling and discussions to demonstrate gender fluidity and identity relationships, reflect the existence of multiple different identities, and change the way viewers see the world. Lin Renzhong even mentioned the choice of peacock dance performed by Peng Shiya, an alumnus of the Department of Dance of Beida University. The male's courtship posture is unpredictable in terms of gender and temperament. The performance is both feminine and masculine, making the viewer unable to identify the gender. In the back-and-forth response interaction, the listeners seemed to be looking for answers in every word and sentence, and building a bridge connecting themselves to the world.
