Visit to the Village Chief of Fuzhou - Regarding Environmental Health and Community Care on Shezi Island
1.Investigate environmental sanitation issues in Shezi area to provide reference for government policies. 2.Visit the elderly living alone, care about health and welfare, and provide government policy references. 3.To achieve a win-win situation with local communities, fulfill the responsibility of a social university, and implement the theory and practice of core courses (environmental health, community health, and health education). Emphasize the importance of field research and service, and two-way learning. Actively promote the concept of health promotion, not limited to the improvement of medical resources, and cultivate the ability to conduct research and solve problems. Through actual interviews with the Village Chief of Fuzhou, we gained insights into the local environment of Shezi Island and identified areas where assistance is needed. Additionally, we inquired about suitable locations for elderly health education. The Village Chief highlighted several key issues on Shezi Island, including wastewater disposal, noise pollution, breeding of disease-carrying mosquitoes, and a significant elderly population. Taking these issues raised by the Village Chief into consideration, the subsequent health service team will incorporate them into planning and investigation as part of their operational model. Environmental Sanitation Group: To understand the local environmental health conditions of Shaji Island, we conducted field surveys, such as water sampling, dengue ovitrap, wastewater treatment, air pollution and noise control. In addition, we conducted a questionnaire survey to investigate the actual environmental health problems of residents. We also implemented health education during the questionnaire survey. Community Health Group: This outing added a community health team that could go to households to conduct health education and qualitative interviews. They focused on diseases common in the elderly population, such as hypertension, multi-morbidity and medication, and elderly depression. They provided accurate health knowledge and investigated the thoughts of residents in Shezi Island on this piece of land and the areas they hope the government will improve.
