In the morning of 12/1, after traveling south from Taipei to Dongshi Fishing Port, We took a boat to Waisanding Barrier Island for on-site investigation. On the boat, We not only gained insights into Taiwan's inland fisheries economy but also learned about the diverse species in the western part of the sea. On the sandbar, We observed the types of organisms present and recognized the impact of the northeast monsoon on the sandbar environment. After returning to Dongshi, We proceeded to Aogu Wetland for an ecological survey, understanding the characteristics of winter migratory birds and the wetland ecosystem. In the morning of 12/2, We visited Qigu, exploring the history of salt fields and understanding the industrial transformation towards solar energy and its environmental impact. Later, We took a boat to Wangzailiao Barrier Island, learning about the economic products and benefits in the Taijiang Inner Sea while observing how fishermen adopt environmentally friendly methods for aquaculture. In the afternoon, We visited Beimen to examine the skeleton of a pygmy sperm whale, learning about the biological information and the initial processing steps, as well as subsequent maintenance. Later, We went to Sicao by boat, studying the ecology of the Sicao mangrove forest and understanding the historical evolution of the local interaction between people and the environment. In the morning of 12/3, We visited the Chimei Museum to examine the biological specimens on display and learned about the inspiration for artistic creations involving biology from exhibitions related to music, art, and more. In the afternoon, We went to Yuguang Island to observe the biodiversity of the coastal beach terrain and the interaction between the coastal windbreak forest and local organisms. In the morning of 12/4, We explored the local fisheries economy in Tainan City, examining the seafood choices made by locals during different seasons and the related processing and export of seafood. Around noon, We returned to the school from the north.
