Deep roots and cultural sustainability - "Dadaocheng." Guide to "Past and Present Life"

1. Introduction and purpose of the USR project In order to fulfill the social responsibility of the university, knowledge and value can be directly returned to the local area, while shouldering the mission of serving the society and promoting national development. In order to promote the development of local industries, we provide students with learning opportunities and collaborate with local societies or foundations; we also expect students to have a deeper understanding of the historical evolution of Dadaocheng and the context of cultural development. 2. Introduction to the history and geography of Dadaocheng Dadaocheng is located on the west side of the Taipei Basin, with Shuanglian on the east, Wanhua on the south, Tamsui River on the west, and Dalongdong on the northeast. The administrative division belongs to Datong District, Taipei City. Taipei’s cultural heritage is immersed in the city’s West District, with Datong District as the axis. The old and new belonging to Taipei’s West District are fermented here. The teacher raised a question that prompted students to think. Dadaocheng not only sells traditional Chinese medicine and new year goods, but also has more cultural features and a new generation of cultural and creative stores. 3. Lead students to understand Dadaocheng through a guided tour with architecture as the main axis Explain the route plan and introduce them in order: Ye Jinfa Company, Dadaocheng Guzhai, Chen Tianlai's former residence, Li Chunsheng Memorial Church, Yiyu Trading Company, Lianhua Food, Lin Wuhu's former residence, Ye Jinfa Company, Xinfangchun Tea Shop, Taipei Xiahai City God Temple Waiting for buildings. 4. Dadaocheng’s transformation and survival style in modern society Dadaocheng is a base for blending old and new and finding the contemporary value of cultural assets. In the early days, long traditional street houses were built in response to climate and needs. In modern times, old houses have been carefully restored and renovated to maintain their style, inherit the traditional spirit, and inject new life into them, turning them into creative design houses. Shops, restaurants, or trendy cafes filled with the aroma of coffee. 5. Recommendations for local and old restaurants in the surrounding area Hidden in the neighborhood, Dadaocheng Cishenggong Miaocheng, known locally as "Mazu Gongkou", is like another village with hidden flowers and bright flowers. What comes into view is a dazzling array of food stalls, where you can eat authentic old Taipei delicacies. taste.
