Deep local roots and cultural sustainability-"Dihua Street. Guide to "Past and Present Life"

1. Introduction and purpose of the USR project In order to give full play to the social responsibility of the university, let knowledge and value be directly returned to the local area, and at the same time shoulder the mission of serving the society and promoting national development. In order to promote the development of local industries, we provide students with learning and collaborative operations with local societies or foundations; we also expect students to have a deeper understanding of the historical evolution and cultural development of the local community. 2. Introduction to the history and geography of Dihua Street Dadaocheng is located in Datong District, Taipei City, of which Dihua Street is a part. It was first built in the Xianfeng period of the Qing Dynasty (1850s). Since the end of the 19th century, it has been an important distribution center for north-south goods, tea, Chinese medicinal materials and cloth in Taipei. It is Dadaocheng. The most important street in the Cheng area. Not only in the past, but in modern times, transportation is very convenient. You can get there by MRT or bus. The MRT stations closer to Dadaocheng are Daqiaotou and Shuanglian stations. 3. Dihua Street’s transformation and survival style in modern society Dadaocheng is a base for blending old and new and finding the contemporary value of cultural assets. In the early days, long traditional street houses were built in response to climate and needs. In modern times, old houses have been carefully restored and renovated to maintain their style, inherit the traditional spirit, and inject new life into them, turning them into creative design houses. Shops, restaurants, or trendy cafes filled with the aroma of coffee. 4. Lead students to understand the scenic spots of Dihua Street through a guided tour with historical buildings as the main axis. Explain the two route plans. The first route is: Dihua Street (Qianwu Street): Xiahai City God's Temple, Fushan Yazhi Lin's ancestral home, the old hospital cafe, and the old Starbucks house. The second route is: Dihua Street Ten Buildings, Nourishing Fruits, Gaojian Tong Store, Watsons Pharmacy, Dadaocheng Cisheng Temple, Starbucks, Dihua 207 Museum, Xinfangchun Tea Shop, Taipei Xiahai City God Temple, Dadaocheng Daocheng Theater.
