Menga Forum|University courses and learning activities combine the experience and prospects of local public affairs

Nowadays, the complexity and challenges of local public affairs have increased significantly, and it is difficult for government departments alone to effectively respond. Broader participation and more innovative solutions are required. With the rapid changes in the socio-economic environment, the social responsibilities of universities have become increasingly important. Universities should not only be traditional knowledge imparters, but teachers and students can also play an active role in investing in public affairs and accompanying localities and communities to deal with social issues. Under this premise, how universities cooperate with government departments, integrate courses with public affairs, and bring teachers into the community field are important topics worthy of discussion and development. This forum invites Chairman Zhao Yongmao of the Taiwan Local Governance Research Association to serve as the moderator and Associate Professor and Director of the Department of Social and Public Affairs Li Junda as the introductor: first introducing the direction of the university as a city university and urban research think tank, and through citizen participation The downward rooting plan, the public affairs course grounding plan, etc., cooperate cross-domain with government departments and integrate into teaching design and execution to promote the practice of social responsibility of the university. This forum invites four speakers from different government departments, universities, and community colleges to talk about their experiences: 1. Xu Minjuan, Deputy Director of the Taipei City Government’s Civil Affairs Bureau: Promoting the participatory budgeting system through Taipei City’s economy Experience and share how to use the government-school alliance to promote the effectiveness of educational courses. 2. Chen Qiaolun, Vice President of Wanhua Community University in Taipei City: Through the university’s diverse community participation experience, we will explore how to practice sustainable and Collaborate with universities to share results. 3. Professor and Director of the Institute of Public Affairs, National Taiwan University, Wang Hongwen: shared the design of a comprehensive course (Capstone) using his own institute’s experience, discussed appropriate topic selection, and analyzed time schedule planning, cost-effectiveness, and government resource support. etc., and share practical experiences and reflections. 4. Assistant Professor Cheng Liya, Master of Local Creation and Cross-Domain Governance at National Jinan International University: Based on Jinan University’s rich experience in local creation and long-term cross-domain bridging with the county government, he shared the feasible ways for college students to connect with local communities ( Social service learning courses, systematic general education courses, social practice courses in professional departments, independent learning). In summary, this forum provides a platform for government department heads, university teachers, and community college personnel to share and exchange relevant experiences in integrating course design and learning activities with local public affairs. It is expected that universities will provide more effective assistance to local governments and communities. to cope with the challenges of modern society.
