Community Elderly Care Practice-Visiting Practices and Techniques
[Community Interview Skills Lecture] Community Elder Care Practice-Visiting Practices and Techniques-----------------Teacher Chen Meizhi It is a great honor to invite Teacher Chen Meizhi from the Department of Social Work of Asia University to give a lecture to the students in the department. As a sociology scholar, Ms. Chen Meizhi has participated in many studies related to disabilities and women, including the welfare needs of people with disabilities, communityization, and plans to improve and optimize community capacity development. Therefore, regardless of the characteristics of the interviewees, Teacher Chen Meizhi has considerable interview experience and skills. We expect to lead students in the department to go deep into the community after the start of the school year, and communicate and interact with the elderly in addition to teaching. Teacher Chen Meizhi’s visiting experience and skills are exactly when leading students in the department to interact with the elderly. Required major. Teacher Chen Meizhi shared her past practical experience and characteristics of interacting with the elderly and explained how to make the visit process more pleasant and smooth. For example: replace complex sentences with simple words to make it easy for the elderly to understand. At the same time, you should also consider the other party's position and change the conversation method to meet the needs of the elderly. For example, for elders with hearing impairment or cognitive impairment, the speed of the entire conversation must be slowed down to ensure that the elder can hear clearly what they want to express, and the volume and intonation must be paid attention to to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings with the elder. ; Or express caring greetings, continuous eye contact, timely and appropriate physical contact, etc. to the lonely elders who live alone. Elders are more willing to cooperate in interviews when they feel the warmth of human kindness, and the entire interview process will not be as formal as questioning. And boring. Finally, because some students in the department do not have very good Taiwanese skills, and most of the elders speak in Taiwanese, teacher Meizhi Chen also encourages students in the department to have the courage to try, and the elders will understand even if they do not speak well. According to the experience of past students, some elders may even find students' fluent Taiwanese to be cute and enthusiastically teach visitors the correct Taiwanese, so don't be afraid of making mistakes and communicate with your elders sincerely!
