2024 A Case Study on Young Children’s Experiences and Exploration of Poetry
Professor Tsai used qualitative research examples to observe and analyze how children and teachers read children's poetry together and explore the process and feelings of children's poetry. This allowed the students present to understand that reading poetry with children is not as difficult or distant as they might think. Children's poetry is not only a form of children's literature but also a medium that connects children's lives and learning. Through experiencing and exploring children's poetry, children's feelings, thoughts, and imagination can be further developed. Children can also experience the joy of storytelling through the form of children's poetry. Reading poetry together with teachers, the sound of words and the imagery they evoke are essential. Children's feelings towards poetry not only convey their thoughts but also encourage them to think about various possible meanings, even beyond the words themselves resonating. Children draw on life experiences as the source of storytelling. In the process of constructing the experience of "poetry," teachers and children read poetry together, tell life's poetry, connect poetry texts, and even create poetry. These actions have mutually responsive relationships, continuously enriching and expanding children's understanding and imagination as they explore poetry.
