1. Participants: Lecturer: Teacher Zhang Yuling, Approximately 80 teachers from the dance department and undergraduate and master's degree students Teacher Zhang Yuling [Special Lecture - "How to Practice Sustainability in Dance"]: 2. Lecturer profile: Currently the manager of the R&D Department of the Taipei Performing Arts Center. He graduated from Performing Arts Management, Brooklyn College, the City University of New York (MFA, Performing Arts Management, Brooklyn College, the City University of New York). He once served as the administrative director of the Taipei National Dance Company, responsible for negotiating and arranging domestic and international tour matters. After returning to Taiwan after studying in New York, he served as the artistic director and assistant to the administrative director of Cloud Gate Dance Theatre, as well as trend observation, art culture and sustainable development research. Areas of expertise include corporate fundraising, public relations, and international exhibitions. The speaker discussed sustainability on the topic of climate. From the fact that the temperature is rising year by year, we understand that temperature change and sustainability are the most closely related, and we must indeed pay attention to "sustainability." What is "sustainability"? It is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the needs of future generations. It emphasizes the concept of sustainability, longevity, and longevity across generations. I was very impressed. During the lecture, Manager Zhang Yuling asked us to reflect on a question, "How can we talk about sustainability when the basic living environment cannot satisfy us?" We have a strong resonance with modern multiculturalism and living in a fast-food society, such as housing prices. How should we live when our income is getting higher and higher and we cannot afford to buy a house? How can we talk about sustainability? I can't help feeling that pure society and innocent life seem to be the greatest treasures of endless life. Concentric Circles of Sustainability "Environment, Economy, Society" Returning to the question of what dance can do for sustainability, the teacher mentioned two examples of "the carbon footprint of dance clothes and the reduction of lighting", which are the so-called 3R's that promote sustainability. "Source reduction, reuse, recycling" and what another kind of dance can do for sustainability is the "art initiative" that uses art to tell everyone how much we care about these issues. But jumping back to reality, our audience is relatively small, and our impact on society is also negligible. Even if a small amount adds up, what can dance do for sustainability? It’s worth pondering.
