Taipei City University USR Program Exchange and Study Trip

From September 14th to September 15th, the president led the USR team of Beishi University to the National Jinan International University for USR planning team exchanges to understand how Jinan University deeply cultivates the local field. In the Jinan University academic support briefing, Teacher Liya shared the process from establishing a research team on campus to connecting with citizen groups and evaluating practice sites outside the school, spreading implementation issues on campus to various related plans, and spreading governance visions outside the school to various organizations. In the process of joint organization, Teacher Liya felt that seeing the needs of cities and towns, learning how to change is the fundamental way. The key points grasped by Jinan University include the current situation of the implementation field and the mastery of the issues, the promotion of ecological awareness and environmental protection. Education issues, on-the-spot learning network issues, daily mutual aid network issues, etc. Jinan University takes on-the-spot learning network and community economy as its vision goals. Topics include: friendly agriculture, food and agriculture education, youth entrepreneurship and ecology Tourism, etc., try to build the possibility of community independent production and marketing system, and shape a positive circular community economic model. JNU is a part of the Shuishalian area and acts as a think tank for community design and innovative governance.In the briefing on the USR project of the School of Education, Teacher Fengyi shared that the USR of the School of Education breaks down the interdisciplinary barriers between departments. It takes cross-departmental curriculum design as the basis, social participation actions and the USR project as the weft, and jointly constructs a bachelor's degree class in the school. The training mechanism is closely integrated with the college's bachelor's class and the USR project. The curriculum structure with social action value is based on the USR project. The social participation course is established to deeply cultivate the concept of social participation in students and enter into community practice. On the second day, the USR project site visit of the School of Science and Technology was carried out. The USR team of the School of Science and Technology focused on water resources conservation and local development in the Shuishalian area as key topics. Through the construction of the Shui Sha Lian area environmental database, action experience will be transformed into environmental education and teaching. Carry out practical promotion of the case. At the same time, we collect innovative knowledge and practices related to sustainable environment at home and abroad, and build a professional community of teachers and a community of off-campus practitioners to lead students into the community through courses to achieve the goal of a sustainable environment. It is hoped that through this operation process, JNU’s experience in creating a green university town with water-sand connections and Taiwan’s green urban and rural areas will be spread.
