Sustainable development goals and core competencies of the 108 curriculum
The national basic education curriculum guidelines should actively respond to and implement the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). While the guidelines have proposed teaching recommendations for integrating 19 topics, they should go beyond superficial connections and truly embed sustainable development education into the learning process. This means not only fostering students' values but also strengthening the development of their core competencies. Curriculum design should be closely linked to everyday life issues, emphasizing practical problem-solving and active participation in actions to guide students in addressing both global and local challenges.
