The circle of kindness of "You and I share the same good" - sustainable community advocacy, care and site management
On March 13 (Wednesday), the planning team invited Zhang Juhui, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Mental Health Association, to share a farewell preparation lecture on mental resilience with on-site volunteers and community members. The lecture discussed different aspects of farewell, and used rich and diverse picture books as teaching materials to guide field volunteers and community members to establish a more positive and resilient psychological attitude. First of all, the lecture mentioned the normality of saying goodbye, emphasizing that life is full of changes and saying goodbye is an inevitable part of the growth process. This shift in perspective helped me understand that accepting goodbye is the first step in understanding the constant changes in life. No longer view farewell as a failure or setback, but as an inevitable process of life. This mentality change is crucial to improving psychological resilience. Secondly, the speaker emphasized the importance of accepting emotions. During the process of saying goodbye, various emotions come to mind, including sadness, anger, helplessness, etc. These emotions are normal reactions. Learning to accept and understand your emotions, rather than denying or suppressing them, is part of building mental resilience. This attitude of open dialogue and self-reflection enables field volunteers and community members to better Be able to handle your emotions and be more resilient to changes. The participating volunteers were also deeply touched by the power of social support mentioned in the lecture. In the moment of farewell, having a support system around you becomes crucial. The understanding and companionship of family, friends, and even colleagues can ease pain and share burdens. This reminds us that when facing farewell, we should not bear it alone, but actively seek social support to tide over the difficulties together. Teacher Juhui also shared the importance of establishing new meaning and goals in life. You may feel lost and empty after saying goodbye, but it is also an opportunity to find a new direction in life. This made participating students start to think that saying goodbye is not only an end, but also a new beginning. By resetting goals and values, everyone can find new motivation and meaning in life. Finally, the methods of self-care and maintaining physical and mental health mentioned in the lecture gave practical action guidance to field volunteers and people in the community. These include exercise, meditation, and maintaining a regular sleep schedule, all important tools for maintaining mental resilience during the farewell process. This made me realize that taking care of my physical and mental health is to better cope with life changes. Overall, the project team hopes that this lecture will provide all-round psychological resilience preparation for field volunteers and community people, so that field volunteers and community people can more firmly believe that in the process of saying goodbye, everyone can A positive attitude and appropriate coping strategies can not only overcome difficulties, but also find a new meaning in life and create a resilient living environment in which social self-help, mutual help, and common good can be achieved.
