A talk on Sexual Harassment prevention
The lecture was given by a lawyer on the topic of sexual harassment prevention. The main points were as follows: 1.Many instances of sexual harassment stem from “self-centeredness and lack of regard for others.” 2.“Discrimination is a source of profound harm.” : Words that make people uncomfortable may come from discriminatory attitudes. 3.Definition of Sexual Harassment: Engaging in unwelcome words or actions with sexual undertones or gender discrimination; using sexually or gender-related behavior as a condition that affects oneself or others’ learning or work benefits; any actions such as leering, staring, or telling inappropriate jokes that make the other person uncomfortable, unwelcome, or cause negative impacts constitute sexual harassment. 4.Maintain Boundaries with others, including respecting others' belongings, territories, and personal space. 5.Personal Space Distances (by Edward T. Hall): - Intimate Space: from skin contact up to 45 cm. - Personal Space: from 45 cm to 1.2 m. - Social Space: from 1.2 m to 3.6 m. - Public Space: beyond 3.6 m. 6.Relevant Legal Guidelines and Complaint Channels: Gender Equity Education Act, Gender Equality in Employment Act, and Sexual Harassment Prevention Act are applied depending on the relationship between the harasser and the victim.
