Sports Science Support for Taipei Municipal Dali High School Baseball Team

The Graduate Institute of Sports Equipment Technology and Institute of Sports Sciences, University of Taipei, together with external baseball data analysis experts, collaborate to enhance the pitching training efficiency of the Taipei City Dali High School baseball team by evaluating pitching performance and athletic conditioning. This aims to improve pitching performance while reducing the risk of sports injuries, ultimately strengthening the team. The pitching performance assessment includes: 1) Using Rapsodo combined with high-speed cameras to collect and analyze pitching performance, 2) Measuring lower body push-off and stride forces on a pitcher’s mound equipped with a force plate, as well as assessing elbow stress during pitching with a Pulse device on the pitching arm. The athletic conditioning assessments include: 1) Maximum strength and flexibility related to pitching performance, such as shoulder, hip, knee joints, trunk, and grip strength, 2) Tests for explosive power in jumping (e.g., squat jump, drop jump, and standing long jump).
