【USR】The Good Cycle of "You and I, Together"—Advocacy, Care, and Field Management for Community Sustainability - Minquan Community Meeting (Co-Living Community Discussion Forum)1131111
Intergenerational Harmony: Cross-Generational Handmade Workshop In collaboration with the Minquan Community Development Association, the "You and Me, Together We Thrive" USR project by the University of Taipei plans to host an **Intergenerational Harmony: Cross-Generational Handmade Workshop** in mid-to-late November. The workshop will bring together students and seniors to create crispy pastries ("One Bite Pastry") and personalized handmade tote bags. Details discussed during the planning meeting are as follows: 1. Purpose of the Event To foster interaction between generations, enabling students to gain an understanding of handmade products and encouraging seniors to engage in artistic creation. The process aims to promote meaningful interactions between participants, creating a warm and inclusive exchange platform. *2. Event Flow - First Session: A volunteer instructor from the association will demonstrate the process of making "One Bite Pastry," followed by group activities where seniors and students collaborate on the hands-on preparation. A session for sharing outcomes, feedback, and stories will conclude the pastry-making activity. - Second Session: Students will lead the seniors in crafting personalized tote bags, encouraging artistic exchanges between generations. 3. Venue Considering accessibility for community seniors and the number of participants, the Minquan Community Activity Center was recommended. The venue is well-equipped with accessible facilities, making it ideal for the workshop. 4. Materials and Budget The required materials include flour, oils, fillings, and other essentials for the pastry-making session, along with materials for tote bag crafting. The budget will be estimated based on the number of participants. Preparation of all basic equipment and consumables is critical. 5. Participants The event will host approximately **90 participants**: 20 students, 55 seniors, and 15 project team members and community volunteers. Groups will be pre-assigned to ensure a smooth process on the event day. 6. Volunteers and Logistics The project team, along with faculty and students from the university, will act as volunteers. They will assist with venue setup, material preparation, guidance during the event, and post-event cleanup. The Minquan Community Development Association will coordinate the venue and manage senior participation. 7. Risk Assessment To ensure the safety of seniors, emergency medical supplies will be on hand, and contingency plans will be in place for any unforeseen incidents. Venue inspections will focus on safety and accessibility, ensuring a comfortable environment for all participants. 8. Additional Notes - Workshop Theme:"One Bite Pastry x Tote Bags"* - Total pastries: 55 boxes (Total cost: NTD 19,250) - Timeline: - 11/11 (Mon): Material estimation and quotation requests. - 11/12 (Tue): Internal documentation processing. - 11/21 (Thu): Pastry-making session at the community center with on-site support and documentation. - 11/25 (Mon): Delivery of 30 boxes** of pastries for the university's anniversary sale on 11/30 (Sat); remaining 25 boxes** to be distributed later. - Pastry Details: - Shelf life: *6 months (Manufacture and expiration dates will be printed). - Feedback from the association’s Executive Director: Only "One Bite Pastry" will be offered due to freshness concerns with other items like steamed buns, and the high cost and labor requirements of pickled cabbage production. - Additional Items for the University Anniversary Booth - Two manuals, five videos, and badge merchandise.
