How to use bibliometric analysis to explore emerging research trends
Bibliometrics is a technique that applies mathematical and statistical methods to analyze academic literature. By quantitatively examining aspects such as research topics, authors, and citations, it helps researchers understand the development trends, research hotspots, and key scholars and institutions within a specific field. For graduate students, this approach clearly reveals the knowledge structure and future research directions of an academic domain. It supports the writing of theses and conducting of research by helping us grasp the developmental trajectory and focal points of the field, thereby enhancing the depth and innovativeness of our research. Furthermore, by using tools such as R and VOSviewer, students can effectively process data and generate visualizations, enabling a more intuitive understanding of domain knowledge and facilitating deeper exploration of academic development patterns.
