【USR】Integration and Diffusion of Medical-Elderly Care and Higher Education Perspectives: Constructing a Social Prescription and Linking Worker Innovation and Development Hub - Practical Strategies for Parents and Children with ADHD (Part I)

This lecture, titled “Practical Strategies for Parents and Children with ADHD (Part I),” was led by experienced psychologist Ms. Huani Huang. It aimed to help students gain a deeper understanding of the behavioral, learning, and emotional regulation characteristics of students with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), while exploring effective teaching and counseling strategies. The session began with an introduction to the core symptoms of ADHD, integrating real-life case studies and assessment tools such as the SNAP-IV rating scale to help students grasp the basics of behavioral observation and functional analysis. Ms. Huang emphasized that symptoms must be interpreted within the developmental stage and environmental context to improve the accuracy and feasibility of intervention strategies. The course introduced Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques, explaining how point systems, reinforcement strategies, and emotional coping skills can be used to foster positive behaviors and learning motivation. This provided students with practical tools to apply theory in educational settings. The lecture also highlighted the importance of collaboration between parents and teachers, stressing the need to establish a triadic support system involving teachers, parents, and psychologists. This cooperative model is crucial for promoting stability and growth for students with ADHD within school environments. Through this lecture, students enhanced their understanding of individuals with special needs and developed their professional competence, laying a strong foundation for future work in education and social welfare practices.
