【USR】Integration and Diffusion of Medical-Elderly Care and Higher Education Perspectives: Constructing a Social Prescription and Linking Worker Innovation and Development Hub - Emotional Care and Resource Integration for Frontline Caregivers
Lecturer: Clinical Psychologist Huang Huani This lecture focused on common sources of emotional stress in educational and caregiving settings, along with coping strategies and resource utilization. The content was designed to address the real-life experiences and challenges faced by frontline educators and special education professionals, combining theory with practical approaches to provide applicable techniques for both teaching and daily life. The course was structured around three key themes: Effective Communication Skills – Emphasizing how positive communication can increase student compliance, with practical principles such as giving only 1–2 clear instructions at a time, setting completion timeframes, and establishing structured practice sessions for compliance. Stress Adjustment and Parent–Teacher Communication – Highlighting that stress responses are not identical to stressors, and encouraging teachers to engage in emotional journaling and reflection to strengthen self-awareness and improve emotional regulation. Mindfulness Techniques – Introducing the RAIN model (Recognize, Allow, Investigate, Non-identify/Not cling), and explaining how meditation positively influences brain structures, with an emphasis on the sustainability and practicality of mindfulness practices. In addition, the lecture highlighted the importance of building horizontal connections with school-based psychologists and social workers to create a supportive network. Through resource integration and mindfulness practice, the session aimed to help caregivers stabilize their own emotions and, in turn, enhance their capacity to support others—truly embodying the core principle: “Stabilize yourself first, in order to effectively support others.”
