Art is not a cure, but it can certainly prescribe: The role of museum prescriptions in individual relationships.
This lecture, led by the current head of the research group at the National Museum of History, guided students to understand the practical role and cultural significance of "museum prescriptions" in a rapidly changing society. Starting with the 2025 exhibition concept of "The Museum in Motion," the lecture discussed how technology, intangible cultural assets, multicultural aesthetics, and land imagery are reshaping the cultural position of museums. The event particularly focused on the "museum prescription" model of cross-disciplinary collaboration between contemporary medicine and culture, explaining how the medical field can assist individuals with mild to moderate dementia in improving memory activation, self-identity, social participation, and psychological well-being through customized participatory activities (such as exhibition dialogues, memory stimulation, hands-on experiences, and social interactions). The lecturer further introduced the international trend of "DEAI (Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, Inclusion)," pointing out that future museums not only need diverse content but also must implement fairness and accessibility in their governance structures and operational processes, ensuring that cultural services truly reach all ethnic groups. Furthermore, based on the concept of "Neurodiversity," the lecturer emphasized that activity design should shift from an age-based framework to one that considers cognitive states and individual differences, and utilizes scientific data to monitor the feelings, reactions, and participation patterns of different groups. This activity guides students to understand the process of museums moving from an "object-centered" to a "human-centered" approach, and explores their important role in public culture, mental and physical health, ethnic diversity, and social sustainability.
