Active Aging Exercise Program Design and Operations Management

This course provides a comprehensive understanding of the principles of active aging exercise, program design strategies, and the operational management of community exercise stations for older adults. The first section introduces key concepts in senior fitness, including age-related physiological changes, frailty prevention, the importance of strength and balance training, and the role of exercise in chronic disease management and functional maintenance. These foundations help students understand the broader framework of health promotion for older adults. The second section focuses on designing exercise programs for seniors, covering intensity modification, movement selection, safety and risk assessment, individualized exercise prescription, and strategies for tailoring programs to different functional levels, health conditions, and abilities to ensure both safety and effectiveness. The final section examines operational models for exercise stations, including program planning, facility setup, staff allocation, community collaboration, sustainable management strategies, and the role of exercise stations in social engagement and community practice. Through this course, students gain not only the ability to design effective senior exercise programs but also practical insights into managing community-based exercise services and fostering meaningful social impact.
