2026_1142Practical Sharing of SEL in Kindergartens
●Principal Ke Qiugui shared the concept of Emotional Intelligence (EI), distinguishing between "emotions," "feelings," and "temperament." She also mentioned that EI is not just about controlling emotions, but encompasses the ability to perceive, understand, and manage emotions, as well as the capacity to cultivate interpersonal relationships. ●The principal further explained the concept of "emotional granularity," which refers to the ability to accurately describe one's emotions. For example, moving from "I'm annoyed" to "I feel wronged because I've been misunderstood" demonstrates a deeper understanding of emotions. ● The lecture also shared many ways to integrate EI into daily kindergarten life, such as creating a safe and secure classroom atmosphere, building children's sense of stability through fixed rituals, guiding children to express their needs and empathize with others during conflicts, and cultivating children's emotional management and interpersonal skills through picture books, games, and learning area activities. ●The principal also emphasized the crucial role of teachers, as children learn emotional expression and coping mechanisms from teacher interactions and demonstrations.
