2026_1142 Playing with Music in Kindergarten ~ Developing Musical Potential
The lecture “Playing with Music in Kindergarten: Developing Musical Potential” was centered on the integration of theory and practice. It began with children’s musical perception and instructional strategies, focusing on the three fundamental elements of music: dynamics, rhythm, and pitch. The lecture emphasized that young children build musical concepts through multiple approaches, including singing, language, rhythm, and body movement. The instructor highlighted that ages 0 to 6 represent a critical period for auditory development and musical potential, with early experiences being particularly important. During the activities, the “Music Train” was used to help participants distinguish between fast and slow tempos through contrast and gradual progression. In addition, rhythm patterns were internalized through language-based activities such as “popsicle, water, ice cream” and animal vocalizations, combined with body movements. Group interaction further created an engaging and enjoyable learning atmosphere. The lecture also incorporated the teaching philosophies of Dalcroze, Orff, and Kodály, emphasizing learning through real-life experiences and “learning by doing.” It highlighted the importance of transforming external musical experiences into internalized musical abilities in young children.
