114-year-old USR Williams Intelligence Test
Under the guidance of Professor Weng Shih-heng, students from the Department of Psychology and Counseling at the University of Taipei participated again in the post-testing work of the Williams syndrome drug research, responsible for administering and observing the third intelligence test. Building on the experience of the previous two studies, the students were more familiar with the testing scenarios and procedures, proficient in operating the Tony Nonverbal Intelligence Test, and demonstrated greater stability and professionalism when dealing with cases. In addition to the testing procedures, the students also learned how to maintain order, manage time, and handle unexpected situations during the testing process. Through interaction with Williams syndrome cases and their families, the students gained a deeper understanding of the psychological characteristics and family support systems of this special group. Williams syndrome cases generally possess strong interpersonal affinity and expressive enthusiasm; when they see the students assisting with the testing, they always proactively greet them and chat for a few minutes, their natural and sincere attitude making the originally serious and tense testing atmosphere relaxed and pleasant. This practical experience not only familiarized the students with intelligence testing techniques but also cultivated their observation skills and helping sensitivity, providing important inspiration for their future clinical work.
