Taipei Municipal University USR Hub Project --- Hualien-Taitung Micro-Light Project: Indigenous cultural experience plus sports protection courses + scientific physical fitness experience
The "Hualien-Taitung Micro-Light Project" is dedicated to promoting health equality and the establishment of sports education. Leveraging the expertise of the Taipei Municipal University's Sports and Health Science team, the project reaches five elementary and junior high school physical education classes in the Hualien-Taitung area, providing experiential courses that combine cultural elements with scientific principles. This year's program covers various sports including baseball, judo, and track and field, with approximately 100 students participating. Through three hours of in-school instruction, students gained an understanding of sports science, physical health, and cultural identity. The project's curriculum encompasses three main aspects. First, "Culturally Integrated Physical Training" draws upon the unique indigenous wisdom of the Hualien-Taitung region. The curriculum includes an introduction to hunting culture, identification of mountain paths and footprints, demonstrations of symbolic hunting techniques, and experiences with traditional song and dance movements. This allows students to simultaneously develop agility, stability, and coordination, while deepening their understanding and identification with their own culture. The second part, "Sports Protection and Safety Education," introduces common sports injuries in a way that resonates with students' lives. Through hands-on demonstrations of the RICE principle, warm-up and cool-down techniques, and the use of protective gear, it establishes correct sports safety concepts in students, enabling them to possess basic self-protection abilities during training and competition. The third part, "Scientific Physical Fitness Assessment Experience," includes body composition measurement, flexibility testing, muscle strength and endurance assessment, and agility and explosive power challenges. This allows students to understand their physical condition scientifically and grasp the importance of individualized training. The overall activity combines experiential learning, cultural education, and scientific testing, allowing students to experience enhanced learning motivation through concrete activities. Professional feedback and data presentation enable teachers to more effectively understand student needs, providing a basis for subsequent training and teaching adjustments. This project aims to gradually accumulate sports education resources in the Hualien and Taitung areas through continuous itinerary services, creating a student development model rooted in culture and supported by science, empowering children in rural areas to gain stronger capabilities in sports, health, and future careers.
