From Classroom Teaching to Digital Learning: The Digital Transformation of a Specialized Course and Its Implementation Through MOOCs
This lecture draws on the course *Qualitative Research* as a case study to share practical experiences in transforming a traditional face-to-face course into a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) and subsequently obtaining digital learning course certification. Beginning with course positioning and target learners, the lecture explores how existing teaching content can be restructured into short instructional videos, visual learning materials, and weekly learning modules. It also discusses how quizzes, online discussions, and assignments can be integrated to encourage active student engagement. In addition, the lecture shares practical workflows for scriptwriting, studio recording, video editing, and cross-departmental collaboration, along with strategies for addressing challenges related to production schedules, copyright issues, and technical difficulties. Finally, the lecture introduces approaches to backward course design based on certification criteria and the use of learning analytics from online platforms to evaluate learning outcomes. Together, these insights illustrate the complete journey of digital course development, from instructional design and content production to course delivery, quality assurance, and continuous improvement.
